One-night stand

And just for a night
I was bigger than my shadow

It felt good to be loved

Everybody wants to be near
or even just get a glimpse

It felt good to be loved

Flashes coming from all sides
as I pasted that requested smile

It felt good to be loved

Overwhelming, is just too pale
to describe the sensation then

It felt good to be loved

The evening halts... morning came
and suddenly, it was all too quiet

Yes, everything is back to normal

But at least, for a single night
I was able to experience the dream

And it felt good to be loved

Just like Cinderella!

Notice how the story ends with "happily ever after" - it doesn't mention that "happily ever after" includes smelly diapers, late nights, spit-up, dirty dishes, "sorry, my King, not tonight, I have a headache," wondering if there's enough in the treasury to pay the Knights... ;)

But on balance, if we have realistic expectations and not fairy-tale dreams, "happily" is measured in moments and smiles and smaller things - and these WONDERFUL experiences give memories to fuel the inner happiness even in the "blah" times.

I found myself digging on your old posts, particularly those written in poetry. I find it amazing that you could turn those rants into something that lets people think - poems. And people (like me) take time to read them rather than skip them.

Wish I could turn rants to poetry or a song. I hope to do this one day.

Oh and I love this one night stand in addition to your "shit" poem. This one reminds me a lot of the saying - "It's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all."
