I cried again...

I cried again... how long has it been since the last teardrop fell
for what reason they surfaced now, I can't fathom

I cried again... and I'm so ashamed of myself
sure I miss my wife, but this is crazy!

I cried again... I really hope nobody sees me
as tears started to race down my cheeks

I cried again... now, when will this stop?
surely, this is not how I want to spend my life

I cried again... only to laugh after a while
cause the reason for my tears, I realized at last!

I was slicing onions, cause I'm cooking dinner tonight

hehehe, kaya pala. I also cry everytime I slice onions. :D

hehehe... oo nga e, kahit i-stretch ko na kamay ko para malayo ako, naiiyak pa rin ako :)

Haha, that's why pala. Emote na emote pa naman talaga ako at the start of the poem. :)

Me too - I cry whenever I slice onions. Bakit kaya ganun, no? Hmm, I'll make that one of the assignments of my son... :)

I think Z or Jena have a logical explanation for this

If you don't wanna iyak palagi, you can make gamit sliced bread over your knife. Works palagi just like a charm. Blame this on Elmot, Roy. :D

Roy said...

hahaha! hindi ko agad nakuha yung 'blame this Elmot' part hehe...

I see you've been there hehe...

thanks for the tip!

dapat siguro naka safety goggles or at least naka shades hehehe...

inisip ko na rin yun Rey, kaya lang baka hindi ko makitang mabuti at daliri ko ang mahiwa ko... lalo akong maiyak :)

Ikaw talaga Roy, you're naughty. Slice onions in water. Submerge mo in water while slicing and tignan lang natin kung iiyak ka pa.

It supposedly triggers the tear glands because of its pungent emissions.

Right Doc Z?

bakit? akala mo ba seryoso? hehe...

ang hirap yata nun, slicing onions while submerged underwater :)

I can't hold my breathe that long :)

Great ending to the poem, beautiful how you leave the reader wondering the reasons until the end.

thank you very much for the compliment Justin!

coming from you, it means a lot!

I don't know whether to laugh or punch you in the arm. NOT the ending I expected, but it's funny. And I can relate. Grief is a funny thing. It sneaks up on you sometimes. And then, sometimes, it's just onions. ;)

Roy said...

ouch! that hurts! hehe...

but I did cook dinner that night, and the onions really made me cry, as always!

Solution no. 1:

Get someone cook for you.

Solution no. 2:

Use those slicing and dicing tools from the infomercials

Solution no. 3:

Buy pre-sliced onions

The title was dramatic and the ending was funny!

Great poem Roy!

I didn't know there were pre-sliced onions. Someday, I would be able to complete my kitchen gadgets to make life easier ;)

Hold a matchstick between your teeth.

Submerge the ONIONS under cold water, not yourself.

J.J.'s tip: Chill them in the refrigerator before slicing.

Roy said...

I've heard about that matchstick trick, is that true?

ahh! so only the onions would be submerged

won't they leave smell inside the fridge?

thanks for the tips Holly, I'll try no. 1 next time ;)

Holly Jahangiri said...

If you're worried about smell inside the fridge or freezer, put an open box of baking soda in each.

But no, it shouldn't leave much of a smell, not if the refrigerator is cold and the onion's fresh.

Roy said...

hmm... getting more tips, thanks!

yes, I remember the baking soda.

by the way, I don't have a fridge. What I have is a freezer, which I used when I was still in the business of making chocolate lollipops. That's why I'm so concerned about the smell, because chocolates are odor absorbent.

Holly Jahangiri said...

Well, it may not be worth the risk, then - I agree that chocolate can be awfully flavor absorbent. I think it would be okay if you wrapped the onion really well, but I'm not sure I'd take the chance. Try rinsing it well in cold water and holding a matchstick between your teeth.
