Candlelight

Flickering... faint...
Enough to light
A room of darkness

Modest heat
To fight the numbing cold

How long?

A gentle blow
Even just a breathe
Threatening its very existence

It flickers... as if dancing...
Fighting... as it fades...

Going... fading...

Darkness.

This poem is very symbolic indeed. It may describe the condition of one's soul. But as the saying goes, "it is better to light a single candle than to curse the whole darkness." Writers must serve as beacons of light to those suffering in darkness. Thanks for the exquisite
poem. God bless you always.

Hi Mel,

yes, you're right. It's symbolizes one's own light... dying... and giving up the fight against the blowing wind.

thanks for your comment

Thanks Jena

I'd like to believe I am - a self-proclaimed one at least

although, I personally don't wish these type of poems won't come out from me... but I can't help it.

thanks

I love that line especially the second line. That's grit - fine quality to have in this tough, unfair world.

This is superb, Roy. And don't you worry. For me you're a poet. I heartily second the motion your self-proclamation. ",)
